Privacy policy
Summary
- Your alarms, settings and ringtone choices stay on your device.
- There are no accounts, no advertising and no sale of data.
- Optional, anonymous diagnostics help us fix bugs. They are off unless you agree, and you can turn them off again at any time in Settings > Diagnostics.
- We never collect your location, contacts, or the titles or file names of your ringtones.
Who we are
ShuffleAlarm is developed by Adel Khatib, trading as AdelKh Products (“we”, “us”), who is the controller of the data described in this policy. You can reach us at support@shufflealarm.com.
Data that stays on your device
ShuffleAlarm has no user accounts and no server of ours. Your alarms (times, repeat days and settings), your ringtone pool and your wake history (when you dismissed each alarm and how many snoozes it took) are stored only on your device. We cannot see them and they are never uploaded. You can delete the wake history at any time in Settings.
Optional anonymous diagnostics
To find and fix problems, the app can send anonymous diagnostics, but only if you agree. They are off by default: the first screen you see explains them and asks you to choose Yes, share or No thanks, and nothing is recorded or sent unless you choose Yes, share. You can change your mind any time in Settings > Diagnostics. Turning them off stops collection immediately and deletes reports still waiting on your device.
The legal basis for diagnostics is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time in the app.
What is sent
- App version, Android version and device model.
- An anonymous, randomly generated install ID. It is not derived from your identity, your device identifiers or your advertising ID.
- Event names such as alarm scheduled, alarm fired, alarm snoozed, alarm dismissed and wake recorded, with numeric values such as how many snoozes a morning took or how many seconds the alarm rang (never the alarm's label, time or sound).
- Error reports and crash stack traces.
What is never sent
- Your name, email address or any account information (there are no accounts).
- Your location. The app does not ask for location permission.
- Your contacts or any other personal files.
- Ringtone titles or file names, and alarm labels.
Where it goes and how long we keep it
Diagnostics are sent to Microsoft Azure Application Insights, hosted in the North Europe region. They are retained for 90 days and then deleted automatically. If your device is offline, diagnostics are queued on the device and sent when a connection is available.
Any internet request reaches Microsoft’s servers together with your IP address. Application Insights uses it to infer an approximate country or region and then masks it, so we do not store your full IP address.
Permissions
ShuffleAlarm asks only for permissions it needs to ring reliably:
- Exact alarms
USE_EXACT_ALARM(Android 13 and later),SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM(Android 12 and 12L) - Rings at the exact time you set.
- Notifications
POST_NOTIFICATIONS - Shows the alarm notification so you can snooze or dismiss.
- Full-screen intent
USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT - Shows the ringing alarm screen on top of the lock screen.
- Foreground service, media playback
FOREGROUND_SERVICE,FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK - Keeps the alarm sound playing reliably while it rings.
- Boot completed
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED - Schedules your alarms again after the phone restarts.
- Audio files
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO(Android 13 and later),READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE(Android 12L and earlier) - Lets you pick sounds stored on your device for your ringtone pool. It is optional and asked for only when you open the list of sounds on your device. Files are read locally and are never uploaded.
- Vibrate
VIBRATE - Vibrates the phone when an alarm rings.
- Wake lock
WAKE_LOCK - Keeps the device awake while the alarm rings.
- Internet
INTERNET - Used only to send the optional diagnostics described above.
- Network state
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE - Lets the app wait until you are online before sending queued diagnostics. It does not see which networks you use or what you do online.
ShuffleAlarm does not ask for permission to ignore battery optimization. If your phone delays alarms to save power, the app can open Android’s battery settings so you can choose yourself.
Advertising and sharing
ShuffleAlarm contains no advertising and no advertising or marketing trackers. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone, except that diagnostics are processed on our behalf by Microsoft Azure as described above. See how Application Insights handles data.
Children
ShuffleAlarm is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Your rights
If the GDPR applies to you, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of personal data about you, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Because diagnostics use a random install ID that is not linked to your identity, we may not be able to find data about you unless you give us your install ID. You can stop all future collection at any time in Settings > Diagnostics. To exercise a right, email support@shufflealarm.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change how ShuffleAlarm handles data, we will update this page and the date above.
